The moon rising over sailboats on Lake Harriet, a few blocks from my house in Southwest Minneapolis.
This was a 30 second exposure, which is the longest exposure that you can shoot on a Nikon D200 without using the manual "bulb" setting (which requires you to use a stopwatch and a shutter release cable).
My basic approach for night shots like this is to set the shutter speed to 30 seconds, ISO 800, and then adjust the aperture to get the image I want.
Welcome
This site is the place where I highlight my favorite photos. It's not intended to be a complete collection of my work, just random photos that I'm proud of. Checkout my Eric Bowen Photography site for a more complete collection of my work, and to buy prints or digital originals of most of the images you see here. Thanks!
